When buying either a new or used motherboard, these computer parts will fall into two manufacturers which will offer you
various options. Currently AMD are offering motherboards, eg AM 2+ and AM 3 which will
support a number of different processors 'CPU's.

This is NOT the case with Intel Processors, they are not interchangable between the different socket types.

If you are trying to replace a faulty board or CPU, it would be adviseable to bring either the motherboard or
the manual to the market. You can also contact the Vendors before the market.

Note SD Ram has two notches on the lower portion.

The only visable difference between DDR and DDR II ram is the notch is closer to the centre of the card on the DDR II sticks.

Some motherboards also support Dual Channel RAM from socket 478 and 462 boards. This high speed RAM (4Gb/sec) must have two identical sticks installed to operate.Check the motherboard manual.

Computer parts are sensitive to static electricity.
Please earth yourself before touching the internals of the computer and Never touch the gold area of the RAM.

FAULT FINDING
1..Have you checked that your power supply is working properly ?
The computer needs 12v , 5 v and 3.3 volts to work properly.
2.. Have you taken the RAM off the motherboard and cleaned inside the computer?
3.. Have you applied heat sink paste if you have removed the fan and heat sink from the CPU?
4.. Remove all DVD/CD ROM and hard drive Data Cables, as well as other PCI cards, etc.
5.. Have you checked the motherboard for blown capacitors.
